The Open at St Andrews

Golf Travel Centre is an Official Sub-Agent for The 155th Open at St Andrews in 2027

The One Worth Crossing the Atlantic For

11 July 2027 – 18 July 2027

The Open heads back to the Old Course at St Andrews. If you’ve ever thought about seeing a major in person, this is the one to pick. St Andrews is where the game started, and an Open there only comes around every five years or so. Miss this one and you’re waiting until the 2030s.

We’re an Official Tour Operator for the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor, so we know what a big championship week takes. And if you’re flying that far, make a real trip of it. We can set up tee times at Carnoustie, Kingsbarns, North Berwick and the rest of Scotland’s great links before or after the championship.

The Road to St Andrews

If you grew up calling it the British Open, 2027 is the year to finally go. Scottie Scheffler ran away with it at Royal Portrush in 2025, Ryan Fox lifted the Claret Jug at Royal Birkdale in July 2026, and now golf’s oldest major heads back to where it all began.

The 2027 Open will be the 31st played at the Old Course, more than any venue in the world, and it lands exactly 100 years after Bobby Jones won there in 1927. Every player in the field wants their name on the Claret Jug at St Andrews above anywhere else. Tiger has said it. Jack said it. Whoever wins on July 18 joins a list that goes back to Old Tom Morris.

Getting there is easier than most people expect. There are direct flights from several North American cities to Edinburgh, and from there St Andrews is about 90 minutes up the road.

About the Venue: The Old Course, St Andrews

The Old Course doesn’t look like any course you’ve played at home. Fairways shared between holes going out and coming back, double greens the size of a football field, bunkers with names like Hell and the Coffins, and a town that runs right up against the 18th fairway.

This is where Tiger won by eight in 2000 without finding a single bunker all week, and where Jack waved goodbye from the Swilcan Bridge in 2005. During Open week the whole town belongs to the championship. You’ll watch world-class golf all day, then walk five minutes into St Andrews for dinner and a pint surrounded by people who came from every corner of the golfing world to be there.

There are majors, and then there’s an Open at St Andrews.
