Opened in the early 1980s, this is a mature, established championship resort course. It plays to a par of 71, stretching a manageable but challenging 6,646 yards from the tips.
It’s always in fantastic shape, which really makes a difference out here. The conditioning is immaculate, with smooth-rolling greens and fairways that seem to flow right out of the high desert terrain. For any experienced traveler, you’ll find the entire operation here to be top-tier, yet with a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.

What makes the Sedona Golf Club experience so special is the visual drama that frames every single shot. Panks’ design philosophy here was one of elegant integration. This isn’t just a course carved into the desert; it is the desert. He presents you with generous landing areas on the front nine, which lulls you into a little confidence while still demanding accuracy to avoid the cleverly placed bunkering. That said, the back nine is where the real drama begins. As you gain some elevation, the course tightens up a bit, bringing in more significant risk-reward opportunities and some truly inspiring views.
You’ll find yourself pausing quite a lot, just to take it all in. The stretch from holes 10 through 12 is particularly memorable, culminating in the signature par-3 10th. Cathedral Rock is perfectly framed in the distance here, demanding not just a precise tee shot over a desert wash but also a moment of genuine appreciation before you swing. It’s easy to see why many guests love the variety and cadence of the round.
