The Isle of Purbeck Golf Club, perched high above Poole Harbour and Swanage Bay, is less about championship history and more about unforgettable scenery and unconventional, fun golf. Established in 1892, this 18-hole course (Par 70, Max Tees: approximately 6,039 yards) is shorter than modern championship tracks, but it is defined by its wildly undulating terrain and breathtaking views of the UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coast.
The course combines elements of heathland, with gorse and heather, and linksland, with its firm, exposed position. The layout has evolved through various influences, most notably featuring revisions by Tom Dunn and later, the famous golf writer Bernard Darwin. It is the highest course in Dorset and promises a unique, charming, and highly memorable round.
