Coastal Golf Meets Five-Star Luxury
W Costa Navarino opened in August 2022 as the W brand’s debut property in Greece. It sits beachfront at Navarino Bay, on a stretch of sand overlooking the uninhabited island of Sfaktiria and the historically significant Bay of Navarino, the site of the last great naval battle fought entirely under sail in 1827. The hotel is adults and older teens only, with guests needing to be 12 or over. The result is an atmosphere that stays calm and unhurried in a way that full family resorts rarely manage.
For golf, the Costa Navarino complex offers four signature 18-hole courses. The Bay Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and located right beside the hotel, is a par 71 measuring approximately 6,150 yards from the back tees, routing through three distinct landscapes including two holes that play directly along the bay. The Dunes Course, a 15-minute shuttle ride away, is a par 71 stretching 6,581 yards from the championship tees, designed by two-time US Masters Champion and Ryder Cup Captain Bernhard Langer. Golf Digest ranked it the best course in Greece in 2022, and Costa Navarino as a destination was named World’s Best Golf Venue at the 2025 World Golf Awards.

The W operates seasonally, from May through October. May, June, and September offer the best combination of warm weather, manageable humidity, and less crowded conditions on the courses. Peak summer runs hot, regularly into the low 90s Fahrenheit, so early morning tee times are the smart call in July and August.
The Dunes Course carries a slope of 140 with a course rating of 73.0. It’s a serious test. The Bay Course plays a little shorter and suits a wider range of handicaps. The Hills Course and the International Olympic Academy Course, both designed by two-time Masters Champion and Ryder Cup legend José María Olazábal, are also accessible by complimentary shuttle. All four courses are managed by Troon Golf and host the annual Aegean Messinia Pro-Am each season.
