The design philosophy of the PGA Sultan is simple: place the ball accurately, or suffer the consequences. Unlike some wider resort courses in the area, the Sultan is characterized by narrow, demanding corridors carved through the dense pine forest. The challenge builds steadily, but the back nine is particularly memorable for its relentless use of water. Water hazards come into play on nearly every hole after the turn, forcing long carries and demanding approaches.
You’ll quickly find the greens are fast and feature subtle, complex breaks, further stressing the need for control. Many experienced golfers point to the challenging 17th hole, a visually stunning par-three with a long carry over water, as the course’s definitive moment of truth.
