This is one of the oldest and most respected tracks in Miami, a proper historic public course that has been shaping South Florida golf since it opened way back in 1952. The original layout was penned by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and was brilliantly restored by Bruce Devlin in 1999, ensuring it remains challenging and completely relevant to the modern game. It’s a classic championship par 71 measuring almost 6,900 yards from the tips, a serious but fair test of play on rolling terrain that is pretty uncommon for the area.
Though easily accessible, it’s also quite refined; you’ll find a well-maintained course that plays fast and true.

Robert Trent Jones Sr. was a master of the risk reward hole, and you’ll find his signature approach everywhere you look, especially around the greens. The course features subtle but significant elevation changes, a rarity in this part of Florida, which keeps the routing genuinely interesting. The front nine is a little more open, inviting you to start strong, but don’t let the wide fairways fool you. The challenge quickly ratchets up as you approach the green complexes, which are typically guarded by smart bunker placement.
That said, the back nine is where the true strategic test begins. It demands precision off the tee and smart iron play to navigate the water hazards and tighter corridors. The 13th, a long par three that plays slightly uphill and is bordered by water, is the signature hole here for many locals. It’s a genuine card wrecker, requiring a powerful, confident strike to find the heavily protected green. It’s easy to see why this course has stood the test of time; it simply asks you to play smart, complete golf from beginning to end.
