Championship Golf on Hawaii’s Big Island
Mauna Kea Resort is a classic Hawaiian golf destination, known for its dramatic ocean views and Robert Trent Jones Sr.–designed course. Opened in 1964 and updated for modern play, the 18-hole layout mixes wide fairways with challenging bunkering and trade wind effects, keeping every round interesting. The signature par-3 3rd plays across a rocky cove, one of the most photographed holes in golf. Accommodations include two oceanfront hotels: Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and The Westin Hapuna Beach Resort, each with comfortable rooms, pools, beach access, and multiple dining options.
Besides the course, relaxation on Kauna‘oa Bay, tennis, and even Big Island volcanic landscapes will keep guests occupied. It’s an upscale-but-laidback spot, ideal if you want great golf paired with the real Hawaiian resort experience.

Key Information
Course Design
Timeless yet fresh, the golf at Mauna Kea Resort is an experience unto itself. The course ambles along the coastline, with every tee box providing a view that inspires pause. Fairways are wide enough to be friendly, yet wind and strategic bunkers add skill as a needed element. Between rounds, the pace slows-lounging by the pool or sipping something cold with the Pacific in view feels just right.
Staff are attentive without fuss; everything you need-restaurant to range-is close at hand. It’s easy, effortless, and quietly luxurious.

What a brilliant service from them. Booked 1 night 2 rounds at Stoke by Nayland and everything was perfect. Their expertise is faultless and all 36 of us thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff at resort were amazing and so was the food and course. Highly recommend using this company and Ian is a diamond to deal with. 5 Stars plus lads.

Why Choose Mauna Lani Resort?
To many, Mauna Kea is the Big Island’s crown jewel. The Robert Trent Jones Sr. design still dazzles, but particularly the 3rd hole, which carries a turquoise cove so striking you’ll want another shot just for the view. The ocean air, the scent of plumeria, the sound of waves-every round feels connected to the island itself. Stay a few nights, and mornings begin with ocean breezes, ending with sunset dinners by the beach.
It’s golf in paradise, pure and simple. Have a look above at the offers to get started on planning your trip.ip.
