Heritage and Championship Pedigree
Jameson Golf Links, formerly known as Portmarnock Links, is an essential modern addition to any Dublin golf itinerary. Located just outside Dublin City on the stunning Velvet Strand, this 18-hole championship links (Par 71, Max Tees: 7,123 yards) is built on the ancestral estate of the famous Jameson Whiskey family, where golf was first played in the 1850s. The course was originally designed by the legendary Bernhard Langer and opened in 1995.
However, after an ambitious multi-million-dollar renovation completed in 2023 by architect Jeff Lynch, the course has been significantly enhanced, maximizing its potential among the dunes and introducing five new green complexes and a strategic new routing. It is now a formidable, high-quality challenge that has hosted prestigious events like the Ladies Irish Open.

Key Information
The course now offers a brilliant, dramatic flow. The front nine starts on flatter ground, demanding strategic placement to set up the approaches. The magic truly begins around the turn, particularly from the 8th hole onwards, where the layout weaves spectacularly through massive, shaggy sand dunes. The renovation successfully elevated tees and greens, providing stunning panoramic viewpoints of Dublin Bay, Howth Head, and Lambay Island.
You’ll find the redesigned holes are engaging and challenging, featuring traditional revetted pot bunkers and acutely angled doglegs that demand precision. The new Par-5s and the dramatically shortened Par-3s and Par-4s on the back nine offer exciting risk-reward opportunities, ensuring a fun but testing game for every experienced golfer. It’s an authentic links experience, complete with the Irish Sea breeze, that truly respects the natural terrain.
