Modern Southwest Facts
Located in Hurricane, Utah, just outside of St. George, Copper Rock Golf Course has grown to be one of the area’s top desert golf destinations. The course, which was created by Dale Beddo and debuted in 2020, has dramatic bunkering, aggressive fairways, and natural elevation changes that are surrounded by eye-catching red rock. A variety of risk-and-reward par 4s, difficult par 3s, and wide-open par 5s that test both accuracy and distance are available to players.
In addition to hosting LPGA and Epson Tour events, Copper Rock is well-known for its superb conditioning and consistent play speed, providing regular players with a taste of professional-level architecture. The layout offers equal parts challenge and pleasure, whether you’re here for a once-in-a-lifetime desert round or as part of a southern Utah golf excursion.

Key Information
The entire visual narrative of Copper Rock is the contrast between the perfect green of the fairways and the deep, reddish-orange hues of the natural desert and canyon walls. The design philosophy is bold and expansive, with generous landing areas off the tee, encouraging the experienced golfer to challenge the desert canyons that frame many holes. You’ll quickly notice the constant interplay with the natural arroyos, which serve as strategic hazards demanding forced carries and precise layups.
The course really comes into its own on the back nine, which dips dramatically into the most rugged terrain. The signature hole, the par-three 11th, is an unforgettable sight, requiring a long carry over a deep gorge to a large, protected green. That said, the finish is equally strong, culminating with the par-five 18th, which gives you a chance at glory with a risky second shot over a water feature. It’s a high-drama course that balances the visually stunning setting with a demanding, thoughtful test of play.
