BERNARDUS GOLF

A CHALLENGING 18-HOLE CHAMPIONSHIP GOLF COURSE, ONE OF EUROPE’S FINEST.

Designed by American architect Kyle Phillips, who was also responsible for the design of world-famous courses like Kingsbarns, The Grove, and Yas Links. Bernardus Golf was built as a heathland golf course, covering 85 hectares with four Par 3 holes, ten Par 4 holes, and four Par 5 holes. The numerous bunkers are laid out beautifully and the tricky water hazards seamlessly blend in with the background of dunes, heath, and gorse. Top condition in the most natural way possible

Sustainability is high on the agenda at Bernardus Golf. Chemicals are not used to maintain the course. Instead, a devoted team of 17 greenkeepers works tirelessly to keep the facilities impeccable. They strive to keep the correct balance of bacteria and fungi in the soil, to ensure the grass stays in top condition, in the most natural way possible.

Since it opened its doors Bernardus Golf has hosted the 2021, 2022, and 2023 Dutch Open, part of the European PGA tour.

How it works...

First staged in Florida in 1990, the event was named after club manufacturer Karsten Solheim, who together with his wife Louise, was the driving force behind its inception. The Solheim Cup is fiercely contested biannually between Europe and USA, with teams of 12 players going head to head over three passionate days of competition.

It follows the same format as The Ryder Cup, with 28 matches – eight foursomes and eight fourballs over the first two days and 12 singles on the final day.

In 2026, the Netherlands are set to host the Solheim Cup for the first time at Bernardus Golf in Cromvoirt – known for hosting the Dutch Open on the DP World Tour in 2021 and 2022.

The event is not only about the world-class competition on the course, but promises to be a festival of entertainment, activity and fun, with something for everyone.
