Mystic Dunes: The Wild Beauty of Central Florida Golf
When you’re packing your clubs for a vacation near Orlando, Florida, you’ll want a course that breaks the mold, and Mystic Dunes delivers. It’s pretty unique for the destination. Originally opened in 1996, this course was masterminded by the legendary Greg Norman, whose philosophy was to create an experience that feels like two distinct courses in one. The overall design runs a robust Par 72, stretching over 7,012 yards from the tips. Worth noting, it’s a premier resort golf experience, which means access is simple and the service is always dialed in, perfect for travelers seeking a seamless round on their itinerary.

Key Information
The beauty of Mystic Dunes is that it actually feels like two different courses woven together perfectly, which is a testament to Norman’s design genius. The front nine is reminiscent of a classic British links course, featuring wide, firm fairways, heavy mounding, and those famously deep, gnarly bunkers. You’ll find yourself reaching for a few creative bump-and-runs here. That said, the back nine is a completely different animal, adopting a more traditional Carolina Lowcountry look, characterized by majestic oaks, wetlands, and slick greens protected by water.
You’ll need to adjust your strategy for the more target golf focus, shifting from power to precision almost instantly. For many golfers, the 16th hole is the standout. It’s a stunning par-3 playing over water to a massive green, demanding total commitment to the line and distance. It’s easy to see why this course is routinely named among the top layouts in the Orlando area, offering an atmosphere that is genuinely challenging without ever feeling unfair.
