A Mid-Century Modern Masterpiece in Palm Springs
Nicklaus Design brought this vision to life in 2005, carving a par 72 layout that stretches just under 7,200 yards from the back tees. It is a quintessential desert resort course, blending wide, inviting corridors with the sharp, jagged backdrop of the San Jacinto Mountains.
While many desert tracks feel cramped by housing, the corridors here feel expansive, giving you plenty of room to breathe while you navigate the strategic bunkering and manicured turf.

Key Information
Stepping onto the first tee at Escena feels like a nod to the golden age of Palm Springs. The course isn’t just about the golf; it’s about the aesthetic. You’ll find that the design philosophy relies heavily on sightlines. The palm trees are framed perfectly against the mountains, and the water hazards are positioned to catch the light just as much as a wayward slice.
The front nine eases you into the round with generous landing areas, though the wind can often whip through the valley to make those wide fairways feel a bit narrower than they look. It’s a pretty fair test for the seasoned player because what you see is generally what you get. The back nine turns up the heat slightly, requiring a bit more precision with your irons. For many, the standout is the par three 15th. It’s a stunning short hole where you’re hitting toward the mountains over a blue lake. It isn’t just a physical challenge; it’s a moment where you’ll likely want to reach for your phone before your wedge. The atmosphere is relaxed but the conditioning is consistently sharp, making it a favorite for those who appreciate a course that looks as good as it plays.

Desert Living and Modern Comforts
The location of Escena is almost impossible to beat if you’re looking for convenience. It’s sitting right on the edge of the city, meaning you’re only minutes away from the mid-century architecture and boutique hotels of downtown Palm Springs. After the round, the clubhouse is the place to be. The Escena Lounge & Grill is widely considered one of the best dining spots in the area, not just for golfers but for locals too. The patio offers a vantage point over the 18th green that’s quite special during the “golden hour” as the sun dips behind the peaks.
Beyond the food, the practice facilities are top notch, featuring a full driving range and a short game area that stays in great shape year round. It’s the kind of place where the service feels personal and the pace of life slows down just enough. If you’re ready to experience the unique blend of style and sport that only Palm Springs can offer, reach out to our team. We’d love to help you piece together a desert itinerary that fits your game perfectly.
